Malaysian comedian and musician Hannan Azlan has reportedly won first place at an international comedy competition in Hong Kong.

According to the website The Daily Seni yesterday, the 22-year-old woman had won HK$40,000 (RM21,538) and a comedy tour of the United States as her prize for clinching the 10th Annual Hong Kong International Comedy Festival.

The first runner-up was Benjamin Quinlan from Hong Kong/Australia, while the second runner-up was Garron Chiu from Hong Kong/US. The competition ended on Oct 22.

According to the report, this is the second time a Malaysian has won the Annual Hong Kong International Comedy Festival, after Dr Jason Leong won the same competition in 2013.

Meanwhile at a separate competition, Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander has progressed to the semi-finals for a shot at the title of "Funniest Person in the World".

He will be going up against 19 other comedians in Helsinki, Finland, from all over the world on Dec 5.
