Penang executive councillor Dr Afif Bahardin is urged not to "defend the indefensible" when attempting to protect his boss, chief minister Lim Guan Eng.

State Gerakan secretary H'ng Chee Wey said Afif had missed the point when defending Lim's "unabashed statements" that fish farming in the state started off only after the 2008 General Election.

"The question by BN was not about how successful the fishing industry is now but the misleading and lying statements of the CM, locally and abroad," H'ng said today.

"Afif should be shameful of defending a (bullshit) temberang chief minister," said the state BN youth chief in a statement today.

H'ng expressed regret that an exco member could not grasp the issue at hand, that Lim "misled and lied" about fish farming in the state which started long before DAP took over Penang.

"Dr Afif should not defend the indefensible."

On Monday, state BN chief Teng Chang Yeow supposedly revealed Lim's "bullshit" when he reportedly said before 2008, there was no fish farming in Penang.

Teng, who is state Gerakan chief, pointed to news reports stating that Lim had said, after the 2008 election, the fish farming industry had grown into 300 ponds.

Afif had responded by saying that the industry bloomed more successfully after Pakatan Harapan (formerly Pakatan Rakyat) took over in 2008.

Afif also queried the discrepancy in figures, reportedly from the Fisheries Department, used by the federal government and Teng.

Despite the conflicting figures, Afif said the fish farming industry grew nine times more under Pakatan post 2008, than when the state was held by BN, even when the industry was at its peak in 2006.
