There is nothing new in Selangor's Budget 2017 tabled by Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, opined Umno lawmakers.

This is how Batang Kali state assemblyperson Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan and Semenyih state assemblyperson Johan Abdul Aziz viewed Azmin's two-hour long budget speech.

They concluded Azmin and his administration either "plagiarised" the policies and ideas of the federal government, or only adopted the measures after being criticised.

"This is merely wayang kulit (drama), just looks good on paper," said Johan (photo) when met at the lobby of the Annex Building, next to the Selangor state legislative assembly.

Citing the Youth Marriage Initiative which allocate RM500 to each new couple, he said the fund was run in such an inefficient manner that a couple had yet to receive their incentive after they had a baby.

"This was raised by (DAP) Sekinchan lawmaker (Ng Suee Lim) himself," said Johan, who is also Selangor Umno secretary.

Meanwhile, Mat Nadzari said there is nothing in the state budget that could make us proud.

"You talk about allocating RM20 million for smart bus programme, but the coverage of roads are limited, not everyone take a bus," he said.

"He (Azmin) has failed on the issue of public transport management... He develop this because the buses carries his logo," he said.

Azmin was said to have merely "copied" the RM1 healthcare fees provided by public hospitals in his RM125 million "Skim Peduli Sihat", a free healthcare service provided to one million low income people.

"(Are you doing this) to compete with the federal government?" he said, adding that Azmin appeared to be presenting an election budget.
