Umno Youth deputy leader Khairy Jamaluddin said today that the movement would strive to realise the government's goal to produce a young generation of towering Malays with high intellect and a competitive edge.

The movement, he said in a Bernama report, had drawn up several agendas to bring about a change in attitude, mindset and culture to produce a young generation of Malays who are self-reliant and hunger for success.

"The Putera Umno movement to be launched by the prime minister in Malacca on June 19 is one of these agendas for the future", he said.

Respected

According to Khairy, the Putera Umno line-up, who are mostly aged between 18 and 25, would set an example as successful Malays who are respected for their wisdom and outstanding work culture.

The Islam Hadhari (Civilisational Islam) concept, unemployment among graduates, the special rights of the Malays and their involvement in agriculture were among the main agendas of the movement, he added.
