Minister: 1MDB still looking for ‘willing’ auditor to replace Deloitte

Vijay47 Thank you, Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani, for introducing three new queries regarding 1MDB, its accounts, and the statutorily required audits.

First, though hardly new, why did the previous auditors resign? Auditors, especially the more stringent ones, welcome external "assets" to any company that wishes to demonstrate that its activities are all above board and for their part, the auditors would want to be of assistance towards such an end.

Second, why is there such a reluctance for new auditors to come forward? One would have thought that there would be a rush of auditing firms to be associated with a company as large as 1MDB. Unless, of course, they fear being tainted by being linked in any form with the chalice of hemlock that is 1MDB.

Third, are you, good minister, introducing another good excuse for unacceptable delays in accounts getting audited - an inability to find an auditor? It reminds us of that other brilliant explanation - it was from a donation and I know nothing about it.

Rupert16: Any auditor with a bit of intelligence will stay away from the toxic 1MDB accounts.

This raises another question: Why is the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) giving 1MDB so much leeway when it comes to submitting its annual accounts compared to other companies?

Shouldn't CCM be raiding 1MDB to show its seriousness over this matter instead of going after Rafizi Ramli's National Oversight and Whistleblowers (NOW)?

Anonymous_4031c Any auditor doing further audits in 1MDB cannot avoid raising the questions that are already in the public domain, particularly the US Department of Justice (DOJ) revelations and the announcements by various other foreign investigative agencies on the money flow on the purported investments by 1MDB.

Failure to do so will mean they have failed in their professional duties, upon which any party relying on the published accounts can mount a claim for damages concurrently with a complaint to their professional body on their failure to adhere to best practices and dereliction of duty.

Zaid: Najib not qualified to talk about the truth

888: I am willing to bet with former federal minister Zaid Ibrahim that the PM will no longer be PM in a year’s time. This is one bet I will be happy to lose.

But I think Zaid will be the one to lose the bet. Even the Old Fox (former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad) underestimated this PM, resulting in his present unenviable status.

Zaid is correct, but this is beyond religious and universal virtues. The supreme religion in our country has always been money, and race and religion are just the camouflage.

Inworldnotof: After all the allegations and the ‘all clean’ proclamations by his appointees, every other human apart from themselves has stopped giving any credence to any emanation of utterance and deed from him and them.

Don’t even mention the word truth. Marie Antoinette and her maids are waiting for the final toll.

We wait to witness the same, which needs to come more swiftly. To finally nail in the coffin the disgusting, shameless straits of Malaysia run to the ground by alleged traitors, liars, murderers, cheats and thieves.

1Citizen: My ustaz (religious teacher) tells me that the literal meaning of ‘kfr’ is ‘to cover’. Thus, one who covers the truth is a ‘kafir’. Also, the opposite of 'kafir' is not 'Muslim', but 'mukmin' (believer).

Goldee: Certain people are allegedly habitual and compulsive liars. They hope others would believe their words as the gospel ‘truth’.

So, the truth is, it depends on which side of the fence you are on.
