Win-win - first to Bersih 5, then to concert in yellow T-shirts
YOURSAY | 'It's a choice between instant gratification and a long-term one.'
Caught between a rock festival and a Bersih march
Anonymous_3ef7: I think it’s so wrong to choose between attending Bersih or the Rockaway 2016 festival based on what is ‘menarik’ - one affects our well-being for the long term and the other is just a short time nice/enjoyment.
If you have to decide, do what is right for you in the long term - demi negara, demi keluarga, demi diri.
Anyway, all the bands - Third Eye Blind/Butterfingers, etc - won't be playing till the later part of the show, so go Bersih first then the concert. Anyway, it's only 15km apart from each other.
Analyser Shooter: Yes, we will attend both. For the first part of it, Bersih 5. Next, to Bukit Jalil with our yellow T-shirts.
Anonymous_1411032064: This is not a problem. Bersih can take place in more than one place. It can be decentralised. When you go to the rock concert, wear yellow.
Mechi: The ruling party must be wiped out, then corruption, cronyism and collusion would be drastically reduced.
Bersih is a sign of ‘democracy awakening’. Both sides can wear yellow, concert and Bersih fans.
Phee Boon Jin: Let's make it into a win-win situation. Those going to the festival, please wear Bersih T-shirts. Deal done.
Appum: Good suggestion, Phee Boon Jin. Half a loaf is better than none. Of course, anyone is welcome to disagree and you bet some cyberspace psycho will disagree.
It's really a choice between instant gratification and a long-term one. It's between two different types of mindset.
Worldly Wise: Bernama, RTM, Berita Harian, Utusan Malaysia and all Chinese and Tamil licensed newspapers have blocked off all news of and comment on the US$6.2 billion arbitration suit against the Finance Ministry-owned 1MDB in London.
The Bersih 5 rally must go on. All right-thinking and thinking Malaysians must join the rally to save the country, Negara Ku.
Drngsc: The youth must choose between their future and their immediate entertainment, which they can always have another day.
Bersih 5 is for the future of Malaysia, and cannot be delayed.
Anger about China visit not about who paid or gets invited
It's Twilight Time for Umno: Perhaps, with the Chinese government’s help, Najib Abdul Razak's stepson Riza Aziz will find fertile ground for his new commercial enterprises with the theme, ‘Dancing with the Dragons’.
Malaysians can take heart, Rosmah Mansor’s beloved son's investments will not come from the alleged 1MDB funds. It will be solely funded from Najib's alleged Silk Road accounts established in the Bank of China.
SusahKes: Firstly, to the question - "What would the people say?", I think we have the answer - "You think I am scared of you?" Close enough, right?
Secondly, we hear of Malaysian Official 1's (MO1) dad not approving a swimming pool, when the kids asked for it. And now, we have MO1 riding around the world with the family entourage in a jet, plus expenses paid for by taxpayers.
Well, I suppose not having a swimming pool makes it a deprived childhood for some. And so, time to make up for all those years of being "deprived", in a jet-set style.
AJ: With all the faults of Dr Mahathir Mohamad which I must say were grievous, the present PM is allegedly a worse PM, by far.
His attitude toward the people and his allegedly Imelda-like spouse’s behaviour is unbecoming. His taking along the family that is mired in controversy is just like saying, "I really don't care, and I can and will keep doing it."
And the perennial problem of having unintelligent aides who Google an obscure Chinese proverb for expediency just makes it all worse.
Mafeeah: Those who voted for BN should give themselves a good hard flying kick for all these problems. Vote for BN again and have more fun kicking yourselves.
OneVoice: Malaysiakini has nothing to write to get people to hate Najib and the government, so it wrote about his trip, his children and all the other bull that does not matter.
Lost to everyone is the many contracts signed that will benefit the people more than the cooking oil/petrol issue. Go get a life.
Anonymous 440691458633074: Dear One Voice, there is nothing else going on in the country. We are broke because of the kleptocrats.
I hope the people will see all of their deeds (or misdeeds) and vote accordingly as this situation mainly affects the man on the street.
The only citizens rich from this saga are the comedians, who now have an endless source of material for their performances.
