Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli is challenging Prime Minister's Department's Deputy Minister Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki to sue him or debate him in public over his allegation that pilgrimage fund Tabung Haji is financially over extended.

Rafizi issued the challenge after Asyraf accused him of slandering the pilgrimage fund, adding that he is giving Asyraf seven days to make up his mind.

"I have sent an official letter to the deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department over his allegations that I have slandered Tabung Haji," Rafizi said in a statement today.

He said that after seven days Asyraf should either:

1) Sue him personally;

2) Order Tabung Haji to sue him if he really slandered the pilgrimage fund; or

3) Agree to an open public debate to prove that Tabung Haji was slandered.

Rafizi also distributed a copy of his letter to the press.

The PKR leader been actively critcising Tabung Haji for what he alleged to be questionable investments and financial decisions.

Most recently Rafizi accused Tabung Haji of being financially over-extended.

He claimed that Tabung Haji did not have the cash or assets to match the deposits of its depositors and that the fund would be hard pressed to repay all depositors, if needed.
