Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar today insisted that Bersih failed to comply with regulations under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 for its planned Nov 19 rally.

 

He pointed out that the notice submitted by Bersih to both the Dangi Wangi and Brickfields district police headquarters was to rally at Dataran Merdeka.

 

However, Bersih had since said it will not enter Dataran Merdeka but will gather in the vicinity after the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said it will not consent for the venue to be used.

 

Khalid said this change was not notified to the police.
