PARLIAMENT The government has rubbished claims that Bernama News Channel's 'Ruang Bicara' host Dahlan Maamor had been removed from his own talk show due to instructions from an unnamed caller.

"There was no woman or other voices who interfered in the affairs of Bernama News Channel.

"This was the company's decision; they were not following outside instructions," Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Jailani Johari told the House last night.

He was responding to Anthony Loke (DAP-Seremban), who asked why the ministry had allowed such alleged interference in Bernama's affairs.

Bernama News Channel is the TV arm of national news agency Bernama, which is under the ministry.

Dahlan in a Facebook post on Wednesday claimed that moments before he was to conduct a segment on Permata, the Ruang Bicara producer received a call not to let him continue as the host.

He said the caller had cited the name of prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor, who is credited with conceiving the children enrichment programme.

A Bernama News official who spoke to Malaysiakini on the condition of anonymity, has confirmed Dahlan's claim but declined to disclose the identity of the female caller.

Dahlan was previously suspended for sharing on Facebook the views of lawyer Adnan Seman, who had recommended that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak seriously consider resigning if doing so can unite his party.
