Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak entertained Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte at a private dinner during the latter’s two-day state visit to Malaysia earlier this week, where the duo belted out a duet.

The song they chose was the 70s chart topper ‘Sha La La La’ by Danish Glam Rock band The Walkers.

While Duterte appeared more reserved, Najib took to the stage with much gusto, not only singing with feeling but throwing in some dancing as well.

Behind them was chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa.

The video of the duo singing was posted online by a member of Duterte’s staff.

Najib is a known aficianado of 70s hits as he himself explained when he revealed his iTunes playlist a while back.

“I have songs from the ’70s that I listen to on a regular basis. But I also got the taste for the newer things like Bruno Mars. I like Bruno Mars.

“I also like the people in between, like Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder and Motown,” he replied when asked if he purchased music online.

At the same dinner Duterte also sang Bette Midler’s classic ‘Wind beneath my wings’, while Najib backed up by an energetic Ali and a seemingly somewhat reluctant Armed Forces chief Zukifeli Mohd Zin delivered his cover version of Cliff Richard favourite ‘Young ones’ .
