The Federal Territories Islamic Department (Jawi) has been urged to investigate allegations that former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin was involved in an extra-marital affair.

Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) president Azwanddin Hamzah, who lodged a report with Jawi on the matter today, said he submitted a 14-page document to back his claim.

Among others, he said the document included a statutory declaration by former top civil servant Stanley Clement Agustin.

He claimed that Agustin had issued a sworn statement which, among others, claimed that his former wife engaged in an extra-marital affair with Muhyiddin since the time the latter was Johor menteri besar.

The sworn statement was signed in December last year and had been making rounds on the Internet since June.

Azwanddin told Malaysiakini that he was unsure if the allegations constitutes an offence under zina (adultery) or khalwat (close proximity).

“My job is to report. It is up to Jawi to categorise the offence,” he said.

When contacted, one of Muhyiddin’s minders declined to comment on the matter.
