Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos should stop taunting the police, said Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

Nur Jazlan said Jamal's taunting may result in untoward incidents during the Nov 19 rally.

"I advise him not to taunt the police anymore. If he continues to talk and taunt the police and Bersih supporters, there may be untoward incidents,

"But the police are ready to take action anytime," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

However, he noted that Jamal has made many empty threats in the past.

Nur Jazlan was responding to the red-shirts leader's remarks yesterday that he would reward any of his supporters who are arrested this Saturday.

Jamal is organising a counter protest to the Bersih 5 rally, and has vowed to hound his opponents throughout their demonstration.

Police have advised both rally organisers not to proceed and have warned that action would be taken.

Nur Jazlan said police were the victims of Bersih and the red-shirts' selfishness, and also blamed the media for sensationalising the protests.

"The fact is on the ground for the last one month, the so called road show by Bersih, and the alternative roadshow by the red-shirts, did not attract many people.

"If you stop highlighting them or sensationalising them there will be less interest in this demonstrations," he said.
