A Malaysian couple has offered to sell their unborn child in order to pay for heart surgery for their seven-month-old son, a report said today.

Jamal Harun, 41 and his pregnant wife, Siti Rogayah Sharudin, 21, are prepared to "sell" their unborn child for RM30,000 to pay for hole-in-the-heart surgery for their son, the New Straits Times said.

Jamal, who earns RM600 a month working at a furniture shop, said a Singaporean couple had already offered RM30,000 to adopt the unborn child.

"This is the last resort as we have no other means to pay for the RM15,000 surgery for Mikail," Jamal was quoted as saying.

"We love Mikail too much and do not want to lose him," he said.
