Trump's a billionaire, Jamal a ‘million hair’

YOURSAY | ‘Jamal is a small-town king whereas Trump is a New Yorker. Need we say more?’

Trump and Jamal, a tale of two reds

Trueglitter: Writer RK Anand, you have done a great dis-service to our country by your inability to comprehend and compare apples with oranges in your endeavours in identifying Donald Trump's great achievements and ascension to be US president-elect in comparison to the non-entity Jamal Md Yunos, whose misdeeds towards all Malaysians and the esteemed dignity of our country has become a national catastrophe and international disgrace.

Never in the history of the nation had we encountered a situation of such magnitude and disruptive atrocities when a single individual has been entrusted such menacing and untouchable authority by the strong-arm tactics of Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) to whip up communal discords and create unimaginable havoc to delay his impending political demise.

Admittedly, Malaysia has been made a laughing stock and has been condemned to be in the same cesspit as those corrupted and ousted African regimes by the international community.

Clongviews: Malaysiakini showing a picture of Jamal next to Trump is no comparison. Trump is a billionaire whereas Jamal is a "million-hair".

In every aspect Trump is financially, politically, socially and influence at a much higher level in a bigger nation than Jamal, who is a nobody and became infamous because he a trouble-maker.

Clever voter: Bad comparison. Donald Trump may sound anti-establishment at most times, but it was the truth.

The negative effects of globalisation meant loss of jobs in many communities, and banks and politicians became too greedy which were no value to people in mainstream US. Jamal is pro-establishment where he is perceived to be the service provider of Umno.

He surrounded himself with people with low IQ. Trump has people without college degrees but he is advised by educated people, perhaps more right wing. Jamal is a small-town king whereas Trump is a New Yorker. Need we say more?

Jaycee: Yes, like Trump whose underlying message is allegedly ‘Make America Hate Again’; this red-shirt wants the same thing here. Else why would he want to cause a ruckus to a peaceful assembly?.

Mytake: Please, don't even compare him with the incoming most powerful man in the world. He has got enough attention already.

Trump is doing things differently, will get results but will not please everyone. This alleged Malaysian bully is just making a lot of noise and is a nuisance.

Light: Trump won on a ticket of divisiveness, threats, bullying and what else have you and the fact that he's a self-made billionaire should never be made an excuse.

Principles should never be compromised in whatever shape, form or colour. Double standard is clearly rearing its head here if that argument is used.

As far as I am concerned, both of them are scoundrels.

Why is Harapan still dealing with PAS?

Bluebird: A principled perspective, but I don’t necessarily agree with your definition of national interests.

“National interests means building alliances with political parties that share the same goal and not dealing with political parties who are making their own deals with your opponents in the guise of religious solidarity.”

But when Pakatan Harapan shuns PAS in the name of principles, lands itself in three-cornered fights and loses, who does the rakyat blame?

Do they give praise to Pakatan for being principled? Or blame the opposition squarely for causing the three-cornered fights?

Therefore, I think it’s important to juggle between staying principled, and doing what Malaysians want in general - that is, to defeat BN and knock them from their perch. Even if it means working with the devil again.

Hopeful but Prepared: Yes, a very insightful and clear article on how inviting and liaising with PAS is akin to ingesting poison.

Similar to feeding aconite to horses, in low doses, the coat looks healthy and well-cared for. Remove the dose or increase it and the truth will be revealed.

Harapan has ingested the poison called PAS and now is paying the price.

Existential Turd: Harapan needs PAS because they (PAS) still hold sway in some rural areas. PAS does not need Harapan, PAS can always deal with Umno.

PAS has proven itself to be unprincipled, fickle and untrustworthy. They harp on hudud and piousness but turn a blind eye to Umno's alleged plunder of the nation's wealth.

They want to be religious and political. They fail at both. The only reason why Harapan is negotiating with PAS is because they (Harapan) are too lazy to do the leg-work and prefer to hitch a ride on PAS' remaining goodwill among rural Malays.

PAS will always demand an arm and a leg in return for support. It would be easier for Harapan to squeeze water out of stone than wresting advantages from cooperating with PAS.

Tony Soprano: The truth is out there. And, in ‘The X-Files’, when Dana Scully knocked on Fox Mulder's door for the first time, he replied, "Nobody here but the FBI's most unwanted."

I think that applies to Najib Abdul Razak, PAS and any other Malaysian politicians and scoundrels as long as they don't disrupt domestic US law too much. Trump certainly doesn't care.

Fairnsquare: PKR and Bersatu are sufficient to consolidate Malay support for Harapan. PAS is not needed. Combining with DAP, they will be a good representative of the wide Malaysian population and garner enough support to capture Putrajaya.

The Umno-BN strategy of using racial sentiments with the red-shirts and working with China shows that there is enough confusion on a political stand within the government, which is inevitably in disarray.

Harapan, without PAS, is the future. The opposition must close ranks in this direction.
