PAS will hold a mammoth rally to showcase support for its move to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdictions) Act (Act 355), said its president Abdul Hadi Awang.
However, he did not reveal the exact date and venue for the gathering, apart from saying it would be held before the next parliamentary sitting in March 2017.
"Insya allah (God willing), PAS will hold a peaceful mega rally to represent Muslims from all political parties and NGOs, as well as non-Muslims who support the Act 355 amendment," he told reporters in the parliament lobby today.
The PAS president said the rally would also serve as a platform for the Islamic party to explain the motion to non-Muslims.
"We will hold explanation sessions nationwide. We will meet with all Islamic NGOs as well as hold dialogues with non-Muslims," he said.
At the same time, the Marang parliamentarian also reminded Muslims in the country to preserve good relations with non-Muslims.
Hadi hopes that the rally will be a success.
"What is important is to show public support. God willing, we will discuss with all parties to ensure that the mega-rally will be conducted properly," he said.
