Ex-PAS leader claims Hadi's bill GE bait, recipe for win-win scenario

Salor state assemblyperson Husam Musa has predicted that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's motion to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, or Act 355, will only be debated after the 14th general election.

The former PAS leader said this after Hadi this morning, on the last day of the current Parliament sitting, again tabled and deferred his motion, citing the need to allow time for it to be studied after certain changes were made.

Hadi had done the same on the last day of the May Parliament sitting, citing the need to give MPs time to review the motion.

Husam said the current state where the government prioritised Hadi's motion while he tables and then defers it was an "equilibrium point" that is beneficial to PAS, Umno and BN component parties.
