Pakatan Harapan will decide on Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) membership in the opposition coalition next week.

Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Salahuddin Ayub said Bersatu joining the pact would strengthen Pakatan Harapan which comprised DAP, PKR and Amanah.

"I hope Pakatan Harapan can hold the meeting as soon as possible so that the main agenda, that is, approving Bersatu's presence in the Pakatan Harapan big family," he told reporters after opening Amanah's first Annual Convention in Ipoh, yersterday.

He was commenting on the reported statement by Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the new party's wish to join Pakatan Harapan.

Salahuddin said Pakatan Harapan would then register a logo with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to be used by the opposition candidates contesting in the coming general election.

"I hope ROS will not dilly-dally (on the registration) as Pakatan Rakyat had experienced before when its establishment was not approved without any explanation," he said.

Later, after opening the Amanah convention in George Town, Penang, Salahuddin said the matter would be discussed at the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting, held monthly to discuss the pact's operational work.

"I am confident there will be no problem in accepting Bersatu to be part of the pact," he said.

Salahuddin said Dr Mahathir himself had stated that Bersatu did not want to join the opposition pact as 'Pakatan Harapan plus' but to be in one family.
