The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a civil servant and frozen dozens of bank accounts containing millions of ringgit linked to the man.

The 55-year-old was arrested in Malacca city at about 2pm today, for allegedly seeking bribes for local government projects, a source said.

It is believed that more will be arrested in relation to this case.

In neighbouring Johor, an assistant land officer was also arrested this afternoon over several plots of land.

MACC sources said investigations showed that he obtained 16.75 acres of agriculture land, 68 acres of commercial land, residential land as well as a luxury home in several districts in Johor.

Johor MACC chief Simi Abdul Ghani confirmed the arrest.

He said the commission will seek a remand order tomorrow.
