Police are seeking public assistance to trace a man seen beating another man, believed to be a foreign worker, in a video clip that has gone viral.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said anybody with information on the incident should cooperate with the police in their investigation.

"We can't identify where the incident happened, who was the victim, (or who was) beating him up.

"So, if there are any person who knows the men (in the video)... let us know," Khalid told reporters during a press conference at Bukit Aman police headquarters this morning.

"We welcome public cooperation in the investigation," he added.

In the 51-second video, a man wearing a blue T-shirt and black pants was seen hitting another man with what appeared to be a long stick.

There was also another man, wearing a Bersih 5 T-shirt, who witnessed the incident, which took place in a room with a mattress.

The victim who did not fight back and was heard groaning in pain and repeatedly pleading to the man to stop hitting him.

Khalid earlier attended a ceremony to receive 10 Kawasaki KLX250 scramblers donated by five Felda Global Ventures (FGV) subsidiary companies for patrol use in targeted areas around Sabah's east coast.

"At the moment we only have 40 motorcycles covering the entire state of Sabah.

"But those are not like these types of motorcycles, suitable for the terrain in the area," said Khalid, adding that patrol duties were previously carried out on foot by personnel from the General Operations Force.

FGV was represented by its chairperson Isa Samad who said the areas also comprise some 98,000 hectares of plantation land owned by Felda.
