Najib trains guns at Umno AGM

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak went on the offensive at the Umno annual general assembly, attacking his mentor-turned-nemesis Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Najib also took aim at DAP which he labelled as "anti-Malay" and "anti-Islam".

The prime minister also revealed that the government would take over PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's private member's bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965.

Meanwhile, Saiful Bukhari Azlan, who accused PKR de facto leader of sodomising him, stole the spotlight on the sidelines of the Umno general assembly.

BN partners pan racial speech at Umno

Gerakan Youth deputy chief Andy Yong criticised the racial speeches at the Umno general assembly, pointing out that this was detrimental to BN.

MCA president Liow Tiong Lai also defended his party which came under criticism at the assembly, stating that Umno's partners should not be blamed for the poor Chinese support in response to Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun’s attack.

More Orang Asli arrested

Seven more Orang Asli were arrested in Gua Musang after a crackdown at another blockade in the bid to stop logging in their area.

This came after 47 Orang Asli who were arrested at separate blockades on Tuesday were freed.

The arrests sparked criticism from human rights and political groups.

The PAS-led Kelantan government distanced itself from the arrests, stating that the matter was being left to the Forestry Department and police.

PAS central committee member Zuhdi Marzuki said he was ready to hold a dialogue with the Orang Asli on the matter.

Meanwhile, Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said the Orang Asli community should not take the law into their own hands.
