Perkasa Youth rapped the PAS Youth wing today for not coming to the defence of the Orang Asli community in Kelantan.

PAS Youth shouldn't be siding with the loggers, Perkasa Youth vice-chief Mohamad Shahiran Safwan Che Mohd Asemari said in a statement.

Mohamad Shahiran pointed out that it was 'wajib' (compulsory) for Muslims to protect the environment.

"Isn't PAS Youth ashamed at allowing the trespass (by loggers into Orang Asli land) which could lead to great disaster (in Kelantan)?" he asked.

Mohamad Shahiran was responding to Kelantan PAS Youth, which yesterday lodged police reports against lawyer Siti Kasim.

Kelantan PAS Youth claimed that Siti was the “main instigator” behind the Gua Musang anti-logging Orang Asli community’s rise against the state government.

However, Mohamad Shahiran said, PAS Youth shouldn't be pointing fingers and instead come up with solutions.

He also reminded PAS of the terrible flooding that had hit Kelantan in 2014, said to be due to excessive logging.

The Kelantan Forestry Department, backed by police, on Nov 29 dismantled three blockades set up by the Orang Asli in Pos Pasik, Pos Petei and Pos Bihai and arrested 54 members of the community.

Since their release, the groups have vowed to erect more new blockades and also lodged a report with the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission over various alleged abuses of power.

The Orang Asli community in Gua Musang claims that the logging activities were affecting their resources and polluting their water sources.
