Former political aide Saiful Bukhari Azlan, who is jailed ex-opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's accuser in the Sodomy II case, felt vindicated by the Federal Court decision, which upheld his former boss' guilty verdict today.

"By the grace of prayers, steadfastness and patience for eight years, on this day, the Federal Court once again unanimously decided that my claims all this while were true," he wrote in his blog.

He said that he and his family respected the court's decision.

"As the complainant, I hope and pray that this will mark the end of all the legal proceedings."

Though he said that he knew that reality might hold otherwise, as he believed there were those that would continue to make use of his case for their political capital.

Saiful noted the ongoing Free Anwar campaign which he said continue to proliferate, and sadly involved public figures whom he once highly respected.

"It is as if they do not care about my fate and feelings as the victim seeking justice in the case.

"Clearly to them, power and political survival is more important than justice," he lamented.

'Test from God'

In any case, he said that he accepted it all as a test from God, to ensure that he remained steadfast, patient and resilient, come what may.

He said that he had done his duty to uphold justice and for now he wanted to look to the future for himself and his family.

Saiful thanked all those who had supported him directly or indirectly all these years.

Saiful and his wife now live a life away from the limelight, both of them operating a consultancy firm behind the political scenes that trained clients how to handle the press and conduct research and media strategy.

The Federal Court this morning, in a unanimous decision, rejected the application by Anwar to review its own proceedings that uphelp the ex-opposition leader's Sodomy II conviction.
 

This was Anwar's last chance to set aside his conviction and he would have to serve the remaining 16 months of his five-year sentence.
