Where is PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Mat now that the Rohingya solidarity rally is over, asks Amanah Youth deputy chief Faiz Fadzil.

It has been more than a week since the Rohingya solidarity rally on Dec 4, Faiz said, which was led by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and attended by PAS leaders such as PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Nik Abduh.

It appears that Putrajaya has not taken any further action on the matter since then, he said, calling the rally a "rhetoric and political sentiment" that Najib was trying to play up.

"What is more unfortunate is that Nik Abduh (photo), who attended and also spoke at the rally, is now silent, despite the lack of any further action.

"As an 'adviser', what are the next steps that should be taken to resolve this human rights conflict?" Faiz asked Nik Abduh in a statement issued today.

Though PAS has denied that that the party was in any way officially cooperating with Umno, its leaders have previously described themselves as 'advisers' to the government.

Faiz said Nik Abduh, who was friendly enough with Najib to attend the rally but has yet to question Najib's role in the 1MDB controversy, casts doubts on his political stand.

The rakyat's rights and money should be defended, as the 1MDB controversy involves billions of ringgit, causing suffering to the rakyat, he said.

If Nik Abduh truly fought in the name of Islam, he would also oppose this issue openly, Faiz said.

The Rohingya solidarity rally saw more than 10,000 people gathered at Stadium Mini Titiwangsa on Dec 4, in protest against Myanmar's persecution of the Rohingyas.
