MCMC probes fake post of new Agong snubbing Najib

The Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has proceeded with investigations on the dissemination of defamatory images linking the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and prime minister during the swearing in ceremony and signing of the instrument of office last Tuesday.

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Jailani Johari said the ministry was conducted an investigation after receiving complaints regarding the images, said to be Sultan Muhammad V refraining from shaking hands (bersalaman) with Najib Abdul Razak.

"I wonder why we still have people, who in my opinion, are shallow minded and like to spread defamatory images such as those.

"When the MCMC received complaints from any consumers, we will not hesitate to take action and we will wait for the outcome of the investigation," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after officially opening the Risda Hulu Terengganu district level 2017 school supplies donation presentation ceremony in Hulu Terengganu today.

During the ceremony, he said, it did not happened as claimed because His Majesty shook hands with all the national leaders.

"Any parties or consumers who found any defamatory images or matters that can threaten or disrupt public order can make complaints either to the police or MCMC for further action.

"I also want to warn those who are irresponsible... we at the commission will not hesitate to take action," he said.

Meanwhile, commenting on the possibility of consumers experiencing telecommunications disruptions due to upgrading work until next June, Jailani said the ministry had requested MCMC to monitor it so that it runs smoothly.
