A man was removed from a US flight yesterday after accosting Ivanka Trump with jibes about her father, local media reported.

The man told the eldest daughter of the US president-elect Donald Trump that her father was "ruining the country," according to website TMZ.

The passenger, holding his child in his arms at the time, allegedly said: "Why is she on our flight? She should be flying private."

After he was escorted from the JetBlue flight he reportedly screamed, "You're kicking me off for expressing my opinion?!"

Apparently the partner of the unruly passenger tweeted an hour before the plane took off, "Ivanka and Jared (Kushner) at JFK T5, flying commercial. My husband chasing them down to harass them."

The Twitter account was later taken offline.

Airline JetBlue issued a statement yesterday saying that "the decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly."

"Our team worked to re-accommodate the party on the next available flight," the statement said.

Ivanka Trump, 35, is already part of Donald Trump's transition team as he prepares to take on the role of US president from January 20.

She has also been tipped to play a formal role in Trump's administration once he is in office.

TMZ later reported that the man involved in the incident, apparently a New York lawyer, refused to comment on the matter after landing in San Francisco.
