Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi has lauded Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim's "out-of-the-box" remarks on football star Faiz Subri's Fifa Puskas Award victory.

Puad said the remarks were well balanced in both praising Faiz and issuing a reminder for Malaysians not to have 'false confidence' and to shed negative behaviour, such as doing things at the last minute.

"History has proven that when someone from the palace makes an out of the box remark that is also people centric, it contributes to political will and integrity, which is more effective for change," he added in a Facebook posting today.

Tunku Ismail yesterday warned of politicians trying to take advantage of Faiz's victory.

He also stressed that the win should not cause Malaysia to lose sight on improving the country's poor state of football and not whitewash it based on one achievement.

The Puskas Award honours the best goal of the year, which Faiz won after several rounds of public voting.

Meanwhile, Puad, who is also the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director, said the Education Ministry should consider allowing Tunku Ismail to realise his proposal for a 'Bangsa Johor' school.

"What is wrong with using a different education method to create youths with positive Malaysian mentalities?" he asked.

The Johor prince had mooted the idea of a Bangsa Johor school in September, saying it would promote unity by placing children of all races in the state under one school system.
