A man from Ipoh has been living at Jurong Point mall in Singapore for the past four years, Lianhe Wanbao reports.

The Singapore Chinese language daily said Chen Jinfu, who works at an electronic factory, resides at the mall's walkways and staircases.

He said he prefers the mall's air conditioning and free Internet, electricity and water, compared to his stuffy room which he rents for SG$250 (RM783.97) a month.

The mall has a 24-hour supermarket while the rest of the mall opens late.

Chen was spotted watching a show on his tablet device while drinking soya bean milk and eating bread, Lianhe Wanbao said.

Chen said he has worked in Singapore for more than a decade and earns more than SG$1,000 (RM3,136.92) a month.

He said he travels to neighbouring Johor regularly to buy his daily necessities and to Ipoh once a year for Chinese New Year.

Jurong Point mall told The Straits Times that Chen is welcomed as long as he uses the facilities "in an appropriate fashion without posing any nuisance or threat to the mall's security".
