Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman refused to comment on claims by lawmaker Khalid Samad that Tajuddin’s son, who is the main suspect in a riot at Parliament grounds last November, was not produced in the police identification parade.

Instead, the deputy agriculture and agro-based industries minister said he would hold a press conference to answer all questions on the matter soon.

"Let him (Khalid Samad) be, believe him (if you want). I will hold a press conference soon," Tajuddin curtly told Malaysiakini.

On Monday, Khalid, who is Parti Amanah Negara's Shah Alam MP, claimed that only individuals who witnessed the incident were brought for the police line-up session he attended.

He also claimed that several others, including Tajuddin's son, were not included in the line-up.

However Khalid's claim was denied by Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh.

"All suspects arrested participated in the identification parade, including the deputy minister's son. Only one suspect has yet to be identified," Amar said in a statement.

Amar said that in the session on Jan 10, two out of the 11 suspects were positively identified.

However, he did not say if the deputy minister's son was among the two recognised by Khalid.

In the Nov 24 incident, Khalid was assaulted by a group of Tajuddin's supporters from Pasir Salak, following an altercation over the word 'sial' which Khalid had used to describe Tajuddin in the House.

The heated exchange of words later turned into fisticuffs and Khalid was pulled to safety by the security officers in the Parliament compound.

Police later arrested 11 suspects, including three women, to assist with investigations.

One of them was Tajuddin's son. Malaysiakini is currently reaching out to him for his comments.
