Amanah is warning voters that ‘third bloc’ parties are in fact BN proxies, and they would ultimately contribute to BN victory, even though such parties claim that they are not aligned.

It said Amanah, and its partners Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and Pakatan Harapan component parties, would hold a nationwide campaign to ensure that the people understand this.

“The people must be convinced that the appearance of a third block is a secret and well-conceived plan aimed at splitting up the opposition that is gaining more support of late...

“The people must reject political parties that only want to be king makers and appear to be pro-BN. These are parties that cannot be trusted at all with the mandate to be given at the 14th general election,” Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub said in a statement today.

In contrast, Salahuddin said, Bersatu is a party that should be emulated and trusted, because it is quick to strengthen Pakatan Harapan’s position and opposes BN, which he described as scandal-ridden.

Salahuddin did not name the parties that supposedly constitute the third block in his statement, but it is likely to include PAS.

The Islamist party is widely seen as pro-BN since the break-up of the Pakatan Rakyat opposition coalition, but PAS claims that it not aligned with BN, although it would cooperate with BN on some matters, such as Muslim unity.

PAS is also the largest opposition party outside of the Pakatan Harapan coalition, in terms of the number of elected representatives it has.
