Labourer denies threatening wife with rape

A road paving labourer claimed trial in the Petaling Jaya magistrate's court today to three charges, including threatening his wife with rape.

Jagades L, 35, is accused on the first charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code of intimidating his wife with a threat that he would rape her and their daughter.

On the second charge under Section 379A of the Penal Code, he is accused of stealing his 37-year-old wife's motorcycle.

He allegedly committed the two offences at a flat in Petaling Jaya at 10pm on Jan 6.

Jagades is accused on the third charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code, of obstructing a policeman from performing his duty.

He allegedly committed the offence at the same flat at 8.30am on Jan 7.

Magistrate Salamiah Salleh set RM3,000 as bail for each charge and Feb 28 for re-mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Khairul Aisamuddin Abdul Rahman appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.
