A toddler was found drowned near her house in Kampung Medang Hilir last night, making her the first casualty involving flood victims in Pahang.

Pekan police chief Supt Amran Sidek said the victim, identified as Siti Nurdarwisyah Abdul Rahman, aged one year and eight months, was found in between trees outside the house about 30 minutes after her family members and villagers searched for the girl.

"Her father, Muhammad Firdaus Sazali, 24, on realising that his only child was not around asked his neighbours to assist in the search outside the house, which was inundated about one-metre deep.

"His wife, father, mother-in-law and brother-in-law were at home at the time of the incident," he told reporters in Kuantan today.

Amran said the girl was reported missing at 7.22pm.

The number of flood evacuees in the state declined to 6,187 (1,633 families) as at 5pm from 6,698 (1,780 families), with 95 relief centres still operating compared to 98 at noon.

Meanwhile, the situation in KELANTAN returned to normal by this evening after being hit by floods for days, with the last relief centre housing 14 evacuees from two families in Kuala Krai being closed this afternoon.

Kelantan Malaysia Civil Defence Force director, Zainuddin Hussin said the flood victims were allowed to return home this afternoon.

According to the ebanjir.kelantan.gov.my website, the water levels in most of Kelantan's main rivers were subsiding to the alert or normal level, except for Sungai Golok at Rantau Panjang which had a reading of 9.26 metres, which was above the danger level of 9.00 metres.

In SELANGOR, the number of flood victims housed at three relief centres in Sabak Bernam dropped to 113 as at 5pm from 210 at noon.

A Sabak Bernam District Disaster Operations Room spokesman said 43 evacuees (12 families) were still housed at Dewan Sri Bernam, Sungai Besar and 41 (15 families) at Dewan Parit Baru, Sungai Air Tawar, while the number remained at 29 (eight families) at Dewan Seri Nakhoda, Bagan Nakhoda Omar.
