It is not nice of Amanah communications director Khalid Samad to blame PAS for social media attacks claiming he had worshipped a chicken, a leader of the Islamist party said today.

"Who said it was PAS behind such things? This is not a nice accusation to make," PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad told Malaysiakini.

Yesterday Khalid lashed out on social media attacks smearing his appearence in a DAP Chinese New Year video, in which he had wished Gong Xi Fa Cai to a caged chicken.

While the postings against him were not by anyone notable, the Shah Alam MP pinned the blame on PAS.

"PAS has once again become a party of slander and insults," Khalid said, and went on to cite a Quranic verse that says that slander is worse than murder.

The social media posts said Khalid and PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli - who was also in the video - were worshipping a chicken.

"Some are willing to worship a white chicken to gain Chinese DAP votes," said one Facebook posting by user 'Pak Lang Farih' on the 'Friends of PAS' page.

The posting was accompanied by a screenshot of Seputeh MP Teresa Kok's 2017 Chinese New Year satire video, which shows Khalid and Rafizi giving the "Gong Xi" gesture to a caged chicken.

The video features a naughty chicken, dubbed Na Ji (that chicken), which is blamed for financial hardships faced by its owner, Balakong assemblyperson Eddie Ng.

Ng tries to give the chicken to Kok in the spirit of the Year of the Rooster, but it escapes.

The chicken is then caught with the help of members of the public, and it is locked up by Khalid.
