FT proposal in PAS, BN states; Najib and Kit Siang on failed state

KINI ROUNDUP Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

DAP counters with FT proposal in PAS and BN states

DAP’s Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng proposed that PAS-held Kelantan and BN-controlled Terengganu be turned into federal territories instead of DAP-led Penang as they are among the poorest states in the country.

Parti Amanah Negara deputy president Salahuddin Ayub described the original proposal by Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor as “colonial-like” and a “threat to national security”.

Tengku Adnan questioned the uproar over his proposal, claiming that a federal territory of Penang can ensure affordable homes.

PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah claimed the opposition would be stronger if PKR and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia abandoned DAP and Amanah in Pakatan Harapan to join PAS in the third bloc.

Najib and Kit Siang on failed state

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang claimed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s warning of Malaysia becoming a failed state was already becoming a reality.

Deputy Defence Minister Mohd Johari Baharum urged members of the defence forces to support BN in the Tanjong Datu by-election.

Johny Bob Aput, the Sarawak Reform Party candidate in the by-election, acknowledged that he was likely to lose but wanted to put up a fight so BN would be compelled to make more pledges to the constituents.
