Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman said he was not completely opposed to Umno Youth’s proposal for a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to investigate Bank Negara’s multi-billion ringgit foreign exchange (forex) losses in 1991.
However, he said the probe should be conducted thoroughly, encompassing then-prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s entire cabinet at that time.
This included then-defence minister Najib Abdul Razak and foreign minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who both went on to become prime ministers.
