PAS Youth yesterday visited St Anthony Church at Jalan Pudu, Kuala Lumpur to have a dialogue on racial and religious harmony.

The delegation led by PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz was received by Archbishop Julian Leow.

"PAS Youth used this opportunity to explain about the Budaya Politik Matang Sejahtera (Harmonious and Mature Political Culture) implemented by PAS today," PAS Youth assistant secretary Nurul Islam Mohamad Yusoff said.

He added that the discussion did not touch on amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act (Act 355) tabled by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang in a private member's bill last year.

"There was no question on the Act 355 amendments from the church," he told Malaysiakini.

The church expressed concern that ethnic relations today are more frayed compared to before.

"Ethnic Chinese children can before play at Malay homes, while Malay children can enter Chinese homes. It is no longer like that," Nurul Islam said Archbishop Leow told PAS Youth.

Nurul Islam said the dialogue ended with an agreement between the church and PAS Youth to hold a joint event in the future.

The delegation was also brought to visit the church compounds, a secondary school and the office and living quarters, he said.
