Perkasa head Ibrahim Ali has urged the Kelantan government to capitalise on its forests by turning it into tourist destinations instead of using it for timber revenue.

Among others examples, Ibrahim said the forest could be used for a tropical themepark for Universal Studios or Disneyland.

"If in Singapore, they have Sentosa Island, we can build a Universal Studios in Kelantan. We can build a traditional themed Disneyland as we have forests.

"People can play tarzan and swing into the swamps," Ibrahim, a Kelantanese, told a press conference.

Ibrahim was referring to the plight of the Orang Asli community in Gua Musang who have been escalating their resistance to loggers over the past few months.

Poor governance

He said that he was supportive of PAS' efforts to introduce stiffer penalities that can be handed by the Syariah courts but the was unable to support the way they govern Kelantan.

"Good that PAS has Islam in its name but they have stupid leaders that only know how to cut down trees.

"I'm not referring to any leaders but I'm disappointed," he said.

He also criticised PAS for "playing with religion", pointing out how the party had changed the name of Pantai Cinta Berahi (Beach of Passionate Love) to Pantai Cahaya Bulan (Moonlight Beach), but failed to improve conditions of the once popular beach.

"Last time, PAS thought that Pantai Cinta Berahi courted vice and so PAS changed the name to Pantai Cahaya Bulan.

"But look at what happened? It's filled with trash. So I would change the name to 'pantai cacat betul' (very poor beach)," he said.
