Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is “desperate” to see changes to the national football team and local league, according to Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Tunku Ismail said he met with the prime minister yesterday to discuss the matter.

“The prime minister knows my agenda in football, and he can see potential.

“He understands I have a mission and vision. He knows and supports my idea,” he told a meeting with fans of the national football team at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Tunku Ismail is contesting for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president post.

Asked about his chances at winning the post, he said that he has a fair chance.

Though he explained that he may lose if politics come into play during the FAM elections.

"Its fifty-fifty for me to win the post, as I know that political elements will come into play.

"We can't be sure about these politicians, but if there are political elements and some individuals have their proxies, maybe I will lose.

"But after meeting the PM yesterday, we shall see what comes up," said Tunku Ismail, smiling to the 200 or so who were in attendance at his press conference and meet-up session today.
