Parti Amanah Negara leader Husam Musa turned up at a PAS event earlier this week just to seek publicity for himself, a PAS leader says.
PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the incident should not have occurred as Husam was given time to explain the matter that was raised beforehand.
“Coming to someone’s event like that is not proper and we don’t know the reason he came to the event.
“I think what Husam did was not the correct way to do. If we see it from a negative angle, he (Husam) was seeking publicity,” Mohd Amar is quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today.
Husam, the Kelantan deputy menteri besar added, should not have “ambushed” the event and should have explained himself at previous opportunities.
“It’s like inviting someone to a feast, we have to go during the day of the feast. If we come on a different day then problems will arise,” Mohd Amar argued.
Husam had turned up at the PAS ceramah in Kota Baru titled "Husam lari dari debat baiah" (Husam runs away from debate on religious oath) and went on stage to sit with the other speakers.
He then asked for an opportunity to speak, in order to defend himself as the ceramah was specifically aimed at attacking him, but he was denied.
The situation turned chaotic when some angry attendees tried to confront Husam. He subsequently left the scene after about 20 minutes.
