The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today arrested the Perak Immigration Department director and three others for corruption.

In a statement, MACC said the suspects were arrested between midnight and 5.30am today, in various locations around Perak.

Apart from the 57-year-old director, the three other suspects are two businessmen, aged 30, and a 26-year-old mechanic.

The men are allegedly involved in giving and receiving bribes from operators of entertainment centres and massage joints in Perak.

All four had been remanded for five days, beginning today, to assist in the investigations.

Meanwhile, Bernama reports that a senior Malaysian Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) officer, who was arrested yesterday for abusing his position involving a sum of RM80,000, was today remanded for four days.

The remand order against the 41-year-old man was issued by Putrajaya magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman.

The MACC applied for a seven-day remand but the magistrate decided against it, given the officer's health problems.

According to reports, the officer had misused an MAHB-provided credit card to pay for skin beauty treatment and a slimming programme, worth RM80,000.

The credit card is only for official use and spending for such means is not part of the officer's contract benefits.
