YOURSAY | ‘Besides gathering to show support for Umno, it is also a show of force to frighten M’sians.’
Retired brigadier-general objects to political exploitation of veterans
Dont Just Talk: Retired brigadier-general Mohd Arshad Raji pointed out the three issues which are of high concern to Malaysians and the plan to mobilised the 100,000-strong retired members of the armed forces is a clear-cut indication that MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) needs the support of the Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) for the coming 14th GE.
In the process and as usual, MO1 will throw lots of goodies to the retired members of the armed forces without considering the deep financial morass that Malaysia is in.
Use your head, and you can be sure that the butt-shaker will play an important role to the extent of trying to outshine that Jamal fellow.
CQ Muar: Cheers to Mohd Arshad for his bravery and outspoken concern. It couldn't be better expressed about the political agenda of the one person behind such a call to the army veterans.
It is clear as daylight what his motive is all about. This is yet another "strategy" and ploy to shore up more support in the light of the next GE.
Najib is obviously concerned and jittery over the outcome of the results this time round despite the billions at his disposal.
We hope the veterans will be honourable and not be influenced by this allegedly corrupt leader who had turned this country into a veritable "hell".
Shanafrica: The armed forces, surviving members or retired members, should stay away from political influence and not be used by any politicians for the advantage or agenda.
We should be neutral and serve the country and the Agong. But they should be bold enough to speak up if those in the ruling government are corrupt and deviate from our constitution.
Anonymous Hotplate: It is easily understood that the gathering is a political agenda for the same politicians to stay in power for ever and ever.
The armed forces veterans are being made fools by Najib and his Umno gang for their political gain, as they know the majority of the veterans are Malays who can be easily cheated.
It is known that Najib and his team will be calling, not only armed forces veterans, but also many other veterans and use them for political gains.
Justice: Mohd Arshad, thanks for your good understanding of what is happening to our beloved country and your very timely warning of the dangers we are exposed to as a result of the reckless actions of our national leaders.
More Malay leaders like you should speak up to protect our country from being sold off to foreigners by our national leaders. It is very difficult and sensitive for us the non-Malays to speak up on such subjects because we will be demonised as anti-Malays anti-Islam, etc, by such leaders.
Yes, clearly our national leaders faced with growing unpopularity and loss of confidence and support and trust from ordinary Malaysians are now desperately trying to win support from influential groups like our army veterans. Their strategy has always been to use race, religion and even money (for example, BR1M and whatever) to buy support for them.
Drngsc: Besides gathering to show support for Umno, it is also a show of force to frighten Malaysians, and warn them of the possibility of chaos, in the event that Umno loses.
This plan is evil. Most irresponsible. This government is panicking and wants to retain power at all cost, even if it destroys the nation.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: Mohd Arshad, the country is sorely in need of a patriot like you. It’s very rare indeed a retired brigadier-general would question the misdeeds of the government.
Most of them would rather enjoy their retirement, with goodies like directorship of companies as rewards. As such, they would rather turn a blind eye to the government's misdeeds than to lose the perks.
Your questions on who is financing all the major projects in the pipeline is very relevant. Needless to say, it would be China.
China is only too happy that the country owes them big, just as US owes them big, having bought trillions of bonds. The main idea is that with such huge debts the country is beholden to them. This is happening to the US.
Try stepping on the Chinese toes, and it will teach you a lesson.
New special assistance soon for armed forces veterans
6th Generation Immigrant: "... announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak when the time was right."
For God's sake, please note that the right time happened years ago. What is actually happening instead, is the government holding out to coerce veterans and pensioners into their vote bank.
If you believe that veterans need to be cared for, "just do it" and stop politicising.
Justice: To build their election war chest and to buy votes for the coming election, sell the country's assets, resources to foreigners, take billions of dollar loans for projects for which Malaysians for generations to come will be forced to live in debt.
Never mind about what will happen to the future of our beloved country as long as they can buy votes to win election and stay in power.
CQ Muar: Our MO1 appears highly nervous and uncertain of the election outcome, hence making all sorts of decisions to boost his chances of winning and holding on to power.
He knows what consequences await him should he lose the election this time round. Well, obviously, this calls for counteraction and extra effort by Harapan/Bersatu to convince the people, especially those from the rural Malay heartlands.
Nevertheless, whatever that's said or analysed by so-called "experts", BN is in for a hard victory. The billions in MO1's account could make a difference, but the voters are more enlightened and hardened.
