A PAS leader speculated that BN might gain from the current crisis where 11 Malaysians are barred from leaving North Korea.

In a Facebook posting, Iskandar Samad recalled his days as a student in the United Kingdom during the Falklands War.

During that period, the PAS vice-president said then British premier Margaret Thatcher was courting flak over the unemployment problem.

“Suddenly Argentina had attacked Falklands. Thatcher sent in the troops and defeated Argentina. In the following general election, Thatcher scored a huge win,” he added.

With regard to the current situation in North Korea, Iskandar predicted that China would act as a mediator.
“What will happen after this? China will become the middleman, Umno people will fly to Pyongyang and bring back the Malaysians.
 
“All of us will be grateful and stop questioning China's investment here (in Malaysia) and vote BN,” he added.
 
Iskandar said while the sovereignty of Malaysia must be defended, the “sins of BN” should not be forgotten.
 
In another post, the Cempaka assemblyperson commented on how Malaysians were fond of Korean dramas.
 
“Now, there is a Korean drama happening right in front of us,” he said.

Yesterday, the North Korean Foreign Ministry announced that a travel ban has been imposed on Malaysians in the republic.
 
In a tit-for-tat response, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak ordered that all North Koreans in Malaysia are to be prevented from leaving.

He also condemned North Korea's action, which he described as tantamount to holding the Malaysians hostage.

Ties between the nations have become strained following the killing of Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA 2) on Feb 13.

Both countries have also expelled their respective ambassadors.

According to Wisma Putra, the Malaysians in North Korea include embassy staff and their families.

Meanwhile, a pro-Umno portal assured Malaysians not to be concerned over the fear of a war breaking out as claimed by opposition supporters.

“Najib knows what he is doing. There is no need for Pakatan to instruct its minions to condemn him. Afraid of him becoming a hero again?” asked MyKMU.net.

Citing the MH17 incident, the portal said Najib has handled international crises before.

“When the MAS flight MH17 was shot down in Ukraine and the Russian president did not intervene that much, Najib went in and solved the complications which led to not only the remains of Malaysians, but all victims of the crash, to be recovered from the crash site for proper burial,” it added.
