Kelantan PKR said that it will not budge from the parliamentary seats it contested in Kelantan, despite urgings from PAS for it to ‘return’ the seats.

The party has vowed to contest in the seats it stood for in the last general election, in the next national polls.

“PAS can do what it wants, but I can say on behalf of Kelantan PKR, that we will defend the three parliamentary seats we contested in GE13, in the next general election,” its chairperson Abdul Aziz Abdul Kadir told Malaysiakini.

He was responding to reports of the Klebek PAS branch urging central PAS to take back the Tanah Merah seat it ‘loaned out’ to PKR when they were allies. Klebek is an areas which falls under the Tanah Merah parliamentary constituency.

However, when asked about the party’s stand about the state seats it contested in Kelantan, Abdul Aziz said that whether or not they will contest will depend on developments after the upcoming PAS muktamar.

During GE13, PKR stood in Ketereh, Machang and Tanah Merah parliamentary seats as well as in the Pengkalan Kubor, Guchil, Nenggiri, Paloh and Kuala Balah state seats.

Meanwhile the Klewek PAS branch has resolved in a meeting earlier today to urge central PAS to take back the Tanah Merah parliamentary seat.

This joins the chorus of other voices urging PAS to reclaim seats it once loaned out to PKR when they were allies, something which continue to gain momentum as political parties look to seat allocations with rumours of impending national polls.

In Kelantan itself, PAS splinter-turned-Pakatan Harapan member Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has announced that it will stand in the Kota Baru and Kubang Kerian parliamentary seats as well as 30 other state seats, mainly where PAS had won.

While allied party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will be aiming for Kelantan seats that Umno had won.

Meanwhile as the same meeting, the Klewek PAS branch also urged central PAS to drag former party elected representatives from Kelantan who left the party and took along their elected seats, to the Syariah court for breaking their ‘Baiah’ or oath of allegiance.

This is mostly aimed at Amanah leaders from Kelantan who left PAS to join the splinter party, taking along the seats they won under the Islamic party’s ticket.

This is as PAS elected representatives in Kelantan were required to take an oath that they will never leave the party, at the peril of having their marriages dissolved.

Amanah leaders however downplayed the severity of the oath and left the party with their seats nonetheless.

The branch gave the party until the muktamar to take legal action, failing which it will do so on its own.
