PAS will collect donations from its members in order to foot the bill with regard to initiating legal action against Sarawak Report and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Kelantan adviser Husam Musa.

Vice-president Idris Ahmad said PAS has already given RM70,200 or 13,000 British pounds to the lawyers to proceed with the suit against Sarawak Report's London-based editor Claire Rewcastle-Brown.

“We will launch a donation drive among PAS members,” he told reporters when met at the Parliament lobby this afternoon.

The Bukit Gantang MP was asked why the suit against Sarawak Report, which reported speculations that PAS received RM90 million from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, was taking such a long time.

“Suing someone is a long process... The courts there are not like the courts in Londang, Malacca, but London,” he quipped.

Husam, a former PAS vice-president, had claimed to possess evidence that the Islamist party had received the sum from "questionable sources".

PAS has vehemently denied the accusations.

Yesterday, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Paul Low said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is not investigating the allegation as there were no elements to warrant a probe.

Meanwhile, Amanah vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa said the party has not received any legal letter regarding the matter.

“We want to ask that the suit be expedited if (PAS feels) Husam's allegation is false,” he added.
