MACC nabs 10 immigration officers for alleged bribery

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today arrested 10 Sarawak Immigration Department officers for allegedly taking bribes from undocumented workers in the state.

In a statement, MACC said the individuals, comprising six women and four men, all aged between 33 and 53, were arrested in different locations in the state, between 1.30pm and 4.3pm today.

"The arrest comes following previous operations by the MACC, which netted policemen, company owners and undocumented migrants, in the state, last month.

"The suspects are believed to have received bribes of between RM200 and RM5,000 to 'protect' foreigners who possessed no valid travel documents and working permits," said a source...
