PARLIAMENT Opposition MP Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) retracted the vulgar remarks he made in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday against Annuar Musa (BN-Ketereh).

"Yesterday, I used some inappropriate words against Ketereh. I wish to retract the remarks with the speaker's permission," Lip Eng told the House today.

However, instead of accepting the retraction, speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia berated him for bringing up old matters.

"What happened yesterday was yesterday... Don't bring up yesterday's issues with me or else people might even bring up matters from last year," Pandikar said.

He then ordered the House to proceed with the debate on the royal address of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Lip Eng launched into a vulgar diatribe yesterday when Annuar refused to let DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang interject and rebut jibes made against him.

Among others, Lip Eng called the Umno information chief "pondan" (queer) and "chicken s***".

Deputy speaker Ronald Kiandee, who was in the House at the time, did not rebuke Lip Eng. Neither did any BN lawmaker.

His move to retract his remarks came after he was told off by his fellow DAP lawmakers, including Teo Nie Ching (DAP-Kulai) and Fong Kui Loon (DAP-Bukit Bintang).
