Idris: Higher Education Ministry has nothing to do with Taman Ilmu
Higher Education Minister Idris Jusoh said today his ministry has nothing to do with the Taman Ilmu education hub in Besut, Teregganu, explaining that it was a state government project.
"Taman Ilmu has nothing to do with the ministry's budget. So what was said about it is absolutely wrong and the ministry has has no relation to it.
"The (Terengganu) menteri besar will hand it over to the ministry, but we haven't received any official notification from the state government, which owns the project," Idris said.

"So the ministry cannot cannot interfere in a state government project, and I don't intend to do so," Idris told reporters at the Parliament House lobby.
He was responding to Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, who yesterday urged the Higher Education Ministry not to revive the expensive Taman Ilmu project, which was conceived when Idris was Terengganu MB.
On Feb 1, Teregganu MB Ahmad Razif reportedly said that negotiations were going on between the state and the ministry to continue the project.
Ahmad Razif was also reported as saying that the RM300 million project, which began in 2004, would be completed in October his year.
The Taman Ilmu project was stalled when Ahmad Said, who was Idris' rival in Umno, became the Terengganu menteri besar in 2008, after GE12.
