Ex-PKR man Ezam Mohd Nor today revealed that the new anti-corruption party that he is mooting with ex-Umno leader Khairuddin Abu Hassan will focus on uprooting alleged evil and supposed abuse of power in the Finance Ministry.

"Our focus is on the ministry as it is the point of origin of all evil and abuse of power, 1MDB and SRC were but the tip of the iceberg.

"Far more evil occurred when all government tenders were decided upon by the ministry whereby only the finance minister can oversee approvals.

"This new party will focus on unearthing this pit of evil and abuse of power," he said in a Facebook posting this morning.

Ezam explained that the party will be a small objective-based party that will focus only on anti-graft fights and abuse of power, as opposed to other parties which aimed to gather influence and power.

To be focused on this objective, he said the party will remain small so that it will not get distracted by the political process and mundane concerns, like building a power base.

"The history of the world has seen the success of smaller parties that have remained committed to a single objective. Their success is not measured in how many prime ministers they produced, but how many they took down," he said.

Ezam explained that such parties focus on large national issues, and in the case of the proposed new party, it will be corruption in Malaysia.

He claimed that billions have been stolen by the thieves protected by the powers that be. And billions more will disappear from our national coffers if we do not rise up to topple the corrupt leadership, whose only business seem to be stealing from us and protecting other thieves.

"In the modern language, it is called kleptocracy," he sniped.

Ezam said that this is the responsibility that he and other hardened anti-graft activists like Khairuddin, who had even faced jail-time in their fight against corruption, have taken upon themselves to spearhead.

The ex-Umno man said that they are willing to work with anyone who share their views.

He said one of the ways that the party will focus on fighting the alleged evils of the Finance Ministry, is for him to symbolically stand against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak who is also finance minister, wherever the PM contests in the national polls.

Ezam said that further details, like the actual name of the party, its pro-tem committee and others will be shared once all necessary dealings with the Registrar of Societies had been dealt with.
