A group of pro-Umno NGOs is planning to organise a debate between Umno information chief Annuar Musa and DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang.

Event organising secretary Ammar Hassan said the two-hour debate, to be held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), will be titled "Lim Kit Siang pengamal politik rasis, diktator dan anti-Islam" (Lim Kit Siang practices racist, dictatorial and anti-Islam politics).

"Our message is for the rakyat to understand the true motive, as was said by Annuar. We want to hear proof to the claims, with logical arguments, and not those without facts.

"We are confident that as a lawmaker, Kit Siang will explain based on facts," Ammar, who is also the Malaysian Social Entrepreneurship Foundation (YKS) director, told a press conference at PWTC.

Among the NGOs organising the debate are YKS, Buletin Rakyat, Pertubuhan Pembela Nasib Melayu Malaysia and Gabungan NGO-NGO Malaysia.

Ammar said the Umno information chief has confirmed his attendance, whereas Lim has yet to reply.

"We have sent official (invites) to both and Annuar has given his green light, but Lim has not. Maybe his officer hasn't informed him yet," he added.

Last month in Parliament, Annuar reiterated his claim that Lim is a “racist, anti-Islam and a political dictator” while challenging the DAP veteran to take him to court if his allegations are untrue.

Those claims were based on several issues, including an old speech from former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who had once claimed that Lim is a racist.

Lim has responded to these claims by giving Annuar the title "father of all racists".

Annuar is resorting to calling him such things, Lim said, because the Umno information chief is desperate as he is dealing with issues concerning Mara.

Following this, Annuar annonced a competition where the best essay, infographic or social media posting which can prove his claims against Lim would win RM50,000.
