Anonymous 2362021442199789: It boggles the mind that a senior federal cabinet minister cannot hold a debate with a former PM if there is a genuine desire to do so.

It appears that there is indeed a 'budak kecik' in one corner and a 'harimau tua', albeit seemingly near nyanyuk (senile), in the other.

We are being given all kinds of silly reasons on why such a debate requires 'approval' from the boys in blue and why approval was given and then withdrawn.

This is one big ‘sandiwara’ to hide the proverbial elephant in the room.

Boeyks: Nazri Abdul Aziz, surely as a senior minister, can't you just call the home minister and tell him what you had just said? Or is he trying to save you from the debate?

Donplaypuks: I strongly suggest that the debate be held at the Bukit Aman police headquarters. That way, "public objection" and the security issue will both be covered. What say the inspector-general of police (IGP)?

Doc: It’s best to have the debate in London for two reasons:

1) A whole bunch of civil servants from the Tourism Ministry along with other fellow ministers can follow Nazri to London for the debate and for a lawatan-sambil-shopping, oops, sorry, lawatan-sambil-belajar trip paid by the taxpayers.

2) London police are seemingly much better and more reliable in providing security for the debate than our Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM)

Pencuri: Is there something to hide by Umno, so much so that PDRM has to use ‘security threats’ to cancel the debate?

Why not just say Umno leaders have no guts to take on Mahathir because the debate could result in washing Umno’s dirty linen in public.

Abasir: Think out of the box, Nazri. There is one place in Malaysia safe for all kinds of characters. It is large, palatial and can accommodate at least a thousand people.

It is actually owned by all taxpayers and comes with multiple layers of security which even the police can't deny.

It is in Putrajaya and if it has to be spelled out for you, it houses the man called Malaysian Official 1 (MO1), the alleged villain of the piece and the primary reason for the proposed "debate" or as you now put it, a "dialogue". So how about it?

Chokstone: Any debate between a minister and the opposition on the topic of 1MDB would be looked upon as sabotage to MO1, because MO1 cannot allow the actual facts to overturn reality.

Instead of clarifying, it would magnify the reported scandals.

So, it is sure that there won't be any live broadcast of the debate, if it proceeds, on the national news media.

Sa Tombs: The only reason this debate will never be allowed to proceed is because Nazri may spill the beans in his usual style, much to the chagrin of MO1 and Umno.

Anonymous_3e79: We can organise a debate online. Both debaters could have their own choice of venue. And they will be connected via Skype and hosted by the moderator who could be anywhere.

The debate can be broadcasted live to millions. Anyone in world can also pose questions to the debaters via a voting system where every audience can partake.

Anticonmen: When elected representatives are unable to debate on issues that matter to the electorate, they are unfit to be representatives in a democracy.
