Both Abdul Hadi Awang and Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man have retained their posts as PAS president and deputy president, respectively, at the party election without being challenged.

The three incumbent vice-presidents are being challenged by two leaders - secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and information chief Nasrudin Hassan.

The trio - Idris Ahmad, Mohd Amar Abdullah and Iskandar Samad - have received adequate nominations to defend the party's number three posts.

Meanwhile, PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz, who lost in the Pengkalan Chepa PAS division election last month, was nominated for a central committee member position.

This was announced by Takiyuddin on PAS' website published today, after the closing of the nominations for the PAS leadership election.

A total of 40 candidates have been nominated for  18 central committee posts.

The candidates have to confirm whether they accept their nominations or not before April 17, Takiyuddin added.

A candidate needs to receive at least 10 nominations to qualify in the party election, as compared with only two required before, he said.

Takiyuddin said the muktamar will witness PAS grassroots choose their new party leadership for 2017/2019 to face the next general election.

The 63rd PAS muktamar, which will be held from April 29 to May 1, will also decide its relationship with PKR and whether PAS will continue to stay in the Selangor government.

The party's wings - Dewan Ulama, Muslimat PAS and PAS Youth - will conduct their muktamar from April 27 respectively.
